Have my readers missed me?  Wondered why I have been absent?  Well, my absence had nothing to do with a dearth of potables.  I actually have visited several breweries & an have an amazing local vendor to appreciate online.  Instead, I was held “hostage” by legislation passed by the State of No Taxes.  I have decided, however, to move forward with writing about a subject that makes my heart happy and light; my avocation in no way impacts my vocation, so I move forward with The Libations Librarian!

Never think, dear readers, that I have stopped my never-ending quest for delightful places to enjoy local culture.  The post today references a lovely brewery on Providence, Rhode Island’s Brewery Passport, Trinity Brewhouse.

Trinity brews right in the heart of the Downtown section of Providence.  The location is not terrible scenic, being right next to a small skateboard park and on the corner of a busy intersection.  That being said, the location gives pedestrians and locals easy access to solid flavors and a jovial environment.  Of course, my spouse and I visited on St. Patrick’s Day, so Providence was a rather joyful place.

The brewery/restaurant holds approximately 50-75 guests, including bar seating.  I enjoyed watching the brewers work while enjoying tasty beers.  The vintage setting, decorated with classic beer ephemera and dark wood paneling, made me feel as though I had walked back in time to a bygone era and half expected a hansom cab to drop off new customers.

The beers – I will admit to sharing a flight.  YES, we shared – we had many places to visit while driving.  Responsibility first!  Trinity has a huge variety from Kolsch (readers know of my affinity for a well-done Kolsch!) to stout to wheat beer flavored with ginger and honey.  THAT beer, The Screaming Viking, was by far my favorite.  I crave the intense, spicy heat of a true ginger beer, but Viking was tempered by honey, creating a much mellower taste.  I do not see myself using this beer as an accompaniment to food; most meals would be overwhelmed by its sweetness.  Instead, I would have it as dessert!  A totally great way to end a meal, particularly one which might have been salty (poutine, anyone?!)

Stay tuned, folks!  With any luck, I’ll be posting at least once a week.  Places to travel, beverages to try, and life to celebrate!!
